Flower Headband

Hi guys! Welcome to the last installment of the #flowerlandifulcrafts craft series! Today I will be showing you how to make a flower headband. Also, I am going to be on vacation for 2 weeks next month, so I may not be posting a lot in the month of July. Anyway, let's get into the tutorial!

Supplies:
- pipe cleaners/chenille stems
- artificial flowers
- elastic string (also sold as "stretch lace")
- hot glue and hot glue gun (optional, but will keep the headband together much better)

First, measure and cut a pipe cleaner to fit over the top of your head. If one pipe cleaner is too short, just twist together two. Then fold in the ends to prevent scratching your head later.

Now, arrange your flowers over the pipe cleaner the way you would like them to make sure they fit/make sure you have enough flowers.

Next, cut a pipe cleaner into 1-3 inch pieces. You may need to cut up more than one pipe cleaner depending on how many flowers you are using. Take your glue gun and put a drop of glue on the top of each short piece of pipe cleaner. Now stick the pipe cleaner into the flower stem part, and wait a few seconds for it to dry. Now set your flowers off to the side. You also can decide to not glue in the stems if you don't have hot glue, etc., but the flowers can fall off quite easily if not secured to the stems with hot glue.

Now go back to your long pipe cleaner that fits over your head. Hold it up to your head, and then cut a piece of elastic string that will make it loose enough to fit on your head, but tight enough to stay on. Tie a knot with the elastic on one end of the pipe cleaner, fold up a little piece of the pipe cleaner, twist, and repeat on the other side.

Now take your flowers with the pipe cleaner pieces attached to them. Begin twisting the pipe cleaner pieces around the base pipe cleaner, attaching the flowers to the headband. Repeat with all of the flowers.

Now all you have to do is just play around with the flowers until they are the way you like them, and you're done! These flower headbands are similar to the flower crown D.I.Y. I did, but they are less bulky and aren't as large, so they really can be worn anywhere.

Flower Lights

Hey everyone! Today I'll be showing you how to make these super cute, super simple flower lights! This D.I.Y. is part of my #flowerlandifulcrafts series that I am doing this month, so if you make these flower lights, share them with me on Instagram using not only #wonderlandifulcrafts, but also #flowerlandifulcrafts! And don't forget to follow my Instagram page @wonderlandifulcrafts for updates on what I'll be posting, and more! So let's get into the tutorial:

Supplies:
- artificial flowers
- string of lights (they can be a small string of lights with a battery pack like I used, or something like a string of Christmas lights. Really anything works.)
- scissors and/or an x-acto knife (You will need the knife for certain types of artificial flowers. I will show an example later.)

First, take your lights. Mine are from the Dollar Tree from Christmas, so I had to take off little snowflake-shaped pieces to get just the lightbulb part. Do the same if yours has something like mine.

Count the number of lights there are on your string, and find that many flowers that you would like to use for your flower lights.

Next, pull off the green part and the center (if there is one) of the flower. You may also have to cut it off with the scissors, but make sure that you don't damage the flower. (Note: When you take off the green piece of the flower, the layers of the flower will want to fall apart, which can cause them to fall off of the lights later, so you can secure layers together with a few drops of hot glue.)

Now, you will need the x-acto knife I mentioned before if you have any flowers like this sunflower:
You simply need to cut a slit in the center and make it large enough for the lights to poke through it.

Finally, just take each flower and push the lights through the center, and you're done!

Floral Sun Hat

Hi guys!
I recently made this super cute floral sun hat just in time for summer, but I wasn't able to get any footage of the creation! :(
But I still really wanted to show you guys how to make it, and it was very simple, so I'm going to walk you through making this adorable sun hat.



The supplies:
- a sun hat/straw hat (I got mine from the Dollar Tree)
- ribbon (optional)
- artificial flowers
- hot glue and hot glue gun

First, take your hat, and if desired, glue on ribbon around it. Next, arrange flowers on the brim of your hat. It looks nice if you go all the way around the hat with flowers, or only in a small section. Hot glue on your flowers one at a time, and you're done!

Variation:

- Glue on small embellishments on and around the flowers, such as rhinestones or small fabric roses, like I did:

you can see silver, bright pink, dark blue, and light purple roses.

- Glue on long pieces of ribbon on the brim of the hat that tie beneath your chin for a fun touch ;)

- Use fabric paint and decorate your hat before decorating it with flowers

- Add other things to the hat like pinecones, seashells, or fake butterflies you can find at the craft store

D.I.Y. Flower Crown

Hey everyone! Today I'm going to show you how to make these totally adorable flower crowns! I am making this floral craft because of a request on Instagram to make "something floral"! This month, I am starting a series of floral crafts, because not only do you guys want to see them ;), but I have a LOT of artificial flowers to work with. And I mean a LOT.  So let's get into the tutorial:

To make these flower crowns, you will need:
- craft wire
- scissors (or something else that can cut your wire easily)
- hot glue and hot glue gun
- artificial flowers

*scissors/wire cutters are not pictured

First, measure and cut your wire to fit around your head, with some excess. Bend into a circle.

Next, twist the ends together a few times to secure the wire in a loop. Cover in hot glue to secure, and cover up any parts that may be sharp or snag your hair when you wear the crown.

Now, arrange your flowers the way you would like them to be on the crown to make sure they all fit, or that you have enough to cover the crown. You may want to take a reference picture to look at while you glue the flowers on.

Next, begin gluing on your flowers, one at a time. Please note that this takes a fair amount of glue to stick each flower onto the wire.

Continue gluing on the flowers all of the way around the crown, and you're done!

This project is very fun to do with friends, or to make yourself. Flower crowns can also be made for any occasion, such as birthdays or holidays. I made two, one that is pink and one that is for 4th-of-July!

Fishnet Jars

After my trip to Florida last year, I became obsessed with everything beach, sun, and sand. And my obsession with Mason jars, and really any kind of glass jar or bottle, met up with my need for the beach last year when I purchased this fishnet seashell bottle from Michaels craft store.

Recently, I purchased four of these small colored bottles from Michaels for $1.50 each, and I decided to attempt to make them into something similar to my fishnet bottle, only without the seashells. Either way, I think they're super cute. Today I'll show you how I made these fishnet bottles so you can make them too!

I bought red, pink, yellow, and blue bottles!

First, you'll need scissors, twine or rope, and a bottle you want to do this on. A mason jar would also work.

Start with tying a piece of your sting where you want the top of the fishnet to be, like this:

shown on the yellow jar.

Make sure to not tie it super tight, because you have to put the string around it later. Now cut a few pieces of string that you will use to make the netting. If you are using the same bottle as me, you should cut about 4 pieces of string. They should be about 6 times longer than the height of your bottle, 3 times longer than the height when you fold it in half. I cut each piece about a yard long, but I had some extra, so if you are using the same bottle as me, you can cut each piece to a little less than a yard. As I mentioned before, fold it in half like this: (Make sure to line up the ends of the string!)

Next, make a knot like this with all of your string on the loop you made on the bottle, and repeat with all the pieces of string, spacing them evenly.

Pull the folded loop up behind the
loop around the bottle

Then repeat all around the bottle
or jar

Then pull the string through and tighten

Then take one half of the string from two different knots, like this:

Then make a knot, forming a U shape. Continue around the bottle.

After you complete the first layer, move down and repeat the procedure, making loops in between the previous ones.

Continue until you reach the bottom of your bottle or jar, pulling down the string along the way.

Continue to pull down the string
to make sure it still fits around your
jar, especially if it curves like mine.

Repeat the process until you reach the
bottom of your bottle. (I lost footage
for the end of making the yellow
bottle, so the rest of the pictures
are of the pink one!) ;)

Once you reach the bottom of your jar, flip it upside down, and pull the strings upwards.

Tie the groups of strings across from each other together, like this:

First tie these two together

Then tie the other two together

Finally trim the excess string...

And you're done!

I hope you guys liked this project, and don't forget to have fun with it! You can use these techniques on glass soda bottles, mason jars, bottles like these ones, or anything else you can think of! You can also always add charms like the original jar I bought, by attaching seashells, charms, or beads using jump rings! If this is difficult, don't give up! It was pretty hard for me at first, but after I made all 4 of my bottles, I felt like a pro. After all, practice makes perfect! ;)

Summer Garland

Hey guys! It's the Wonderlandiful Crafter, back again with the first wonderlandiful DIY of 2016! I'll be showing you how to make a super cute, summer-inspired garland you can hang in your room, use for a party, or really do anything with!

First, you'll need to go on Google images (or your favorite image website/source), and find some images to use for your garland. You can really make this for any occasion, like for holidays or birthdays, but I'm making a summer inspired garland with pineapples, watermelons, palm trees, and emojis with sunglasses!



After saving some images to your desktop, print them out. You can mess with the sizing (the little percentage thing) to get the size you want for your image.

After you print out your desired amount of images, cut them out. You may have to print out several of the same images to cut out, because every piece has to be cut out of the card stock later.

Now that you have cut out all of the pieces, flip them over, and trace onto card stock, or construction paper, like this:

You will also have to trace each piece the number of times you would like them to be on your garland.

Cut out all of your pieces, and glue together. Then hang them on a string with clothespins! You can also glue them to the string if you would like. And your done!

This project is very fun, and you can hang your garland anywhere. I hung mine over the curtains in my room!

Please note that this project is quite time consuming, especially if you use complicated images or make a lot of pieces for your garland. You can also cut out images using a Cricket or Silhouette cutting machine if you would not like to cut out all of the pieces by hand. ;)
